Prayer Groups

The Charismatic Renewal is a community of prayer.  At prayer groups we can praise and learn about God, intercede, encourage one another and grow in the Holy Spirit's gifts. They are a place to enjoy the company of old and new friends. A prayer group is a beautiful experience.  Learn more about how and why we pray with people.

In the beginning of the Book of Acts in the Bible, Mary, the Apostles, and the early Christians gathered together in prayer, waiting for the Holy Spirit to come.  The Church continued to grow from this experience of Pentecost.  Prayer groups invite everyone to come follow this example.

This is a poem a member of Logs of Fire at St. Mary's about what a prayer group is like

Logs of Fire

Robust prayer group
Honors the heart of Jesus
Attentive all round

Rendering such songs
About embracing Jesus
With apt joining in

Cultivates Jesus
Prizing His relationships
Known unto us now

Time for reflection
Flowing into discussions
With personal viewpoints

Wellbeing requests
Spiritual connections
Sincerely caring

Logs of Fire beams glow
With kindred flames of bonding
To proclaim Jesus

"While meeting with them, he [Jesus] enjoined them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for "the promise of the Father about which you have heard me speak; for John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. ... But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Then they returned to Jerusalem ... When they entered the city they went to the upper room where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. All these devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, together with some women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers." - Acts 1:4-5, 8, 12
