Unbound: Healing and Deliverance Ministry

“Picture a locked door. Opening that door represents liberation from spiritual bondage. This door has five locks, each requiring a key. As a believer in Christ, you have all the keys you need to be free from the influence of evil spirits” (Unbound, page 56).
Freedom is so fundamental to our humanity that we are told in Galatians 5:1b, “For freedom Christ has set us free.” It is through our union with Jesus the Son of God that we are restored to true freedom. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17).
The Holy Spirit is the love of God poured into our hearts. (Romans 5:5) He is the Spirit of the Lord; He is the life of God Himself, making His home in us. The Spirit of God brings us into an intimate relationship with our Father and restores us to full freedom.
“And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’ So through God you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son then an heir” (Galatians 4:6-7).
Because of sin, our parents, (even the best of parents) and many others have failed to represent the Father of love to us. The fruit of original sin causes us to identify more as a slave than as a child of God. We have areas of our lives that have yet to experience full liberation. Sin, bad habits, and bondage are doors the devil uses to tempt us to think and act as though we were still slaves.
Freedom is life in the Son of God. The Son has overcome every deception that we have believed about the Father who has always loved us, who has always been present, who has always blessed us.
Satan, seeking to rob, steal and destroy, poses as a counterfeit father. Jesus tells us that Satan is, “the father of lies” (John 8:44). We know that God’s Word has power because it comes from God. Deception has spiritual power as well because its source is a spiritual being, the devil who is a liar. Sin entered the world though one man and with sin came the great deception.
Deliverance is removing the power of lies so we can hear the voice of our Father that has always been calling us deep within. Knowing the Father through the Son takes us to freedom and healing.
The book, Unbound, A Practical Guide To Deliverance by Neal Lozano, teaches how to listen and respond in five key areas as you seek greater freedom and help others to do the same. Each key incorporates practical direction on how to respond to the grace that unlocks the door and sets us free.

God is More Powerful than the Occult
Deliverance ministry can address a variety of wounds and problems. Avoiding the occult is a key way to prevent problems. There are many forms of the occult. People are attracted to its claims to offer healing, control, power, freedom, personal growth, knowledge, or connection. Demons use these attractive promises to get people's attention because if a demon appeared in all its ugliness and was honest about its plan, no one would entertain it. A demon's goal is not to help you, but to get you away from God.
God tells us in the Bible, "Satan disguises himself as an angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14) and "You shall have no other gods before Me" (Exodus 20:3). Different forms of the occult operate in different ways, but one common thing is it usually places someone else, often the individual, in the place of God. There is an elevated sense of autonomy, where the individual determines what is right and wrong, even without reference to God's own words.
It also offers a sense of connection with oneself, with deceased relatives, with nature, and the culture of one's ancestry, which are good things, but the ways the occult tries to connect people with them are problematic because they exclude God or deny the reality of the spiritual world. When someone says Satan and demons do not exist, that opens the door to Satan and evil spirits because the need to discern and protect is seen as unnecessary. If all spirits are seen as good, then you might invite "spirits" in general into your life, and the problem is some spirits are demons and they can answer that invitation even if you did not intend for that to happen. Evil spirits are eager to enter our lives and lead us from God. They are willing to give the appearance of something good if in the long run a person is disconnected from God. This is why sources that claim to be spiritual and promise personal growth or prosperity without God are deceptive. The person may experience something desirable but without God, and that is part of the demons' plan to move a person away from faith.
Once disconnected from God, a person is vulnerable to demonic attacks that can get worse over time. A person may be innocently seeking something good, but apart from God, and the enemy uses that to enter their life. For example, divination tries to foretell the future, such as with tarot cards. The need to control the future or know its details outside of what we can naturally control or estimate, can be based in distrusting God. God simply invites us to trust Him with the future knowing He is in control and we are safe with Him. Taking ourselves out of God's hands and trusting in our own power instead, or the power of some spiritual force that is not God, or trusting something else in the way God should be trusted is a form idolatry because it puts something in God's place. An evil spirit being called on during divination can then enter the person's life.
That is when people come to the Charismatic Renewal for deliverance. We clean up the mess the enemy has made. The enemy cannot remain hidden any longer, and deliverance ministry brings everything into the light, and sets the person free.
If you or someone you know needs help getting out of the occult, please contact us. Lay people do deliverance, not solemn exorcisms. If you need help with demonic possession please speak with your local priest who can help you connect with that ministry. The Charismatic Renewal has people who are able and ready to pray with you for deliverance. We can help you figure out if you have doors in your life that are opening you to problems from the occult, and help you close them. The Church in general - such as the one near your home - is here to help you trust God and learn that He delivers on His promises, so you do not need to turn to look away from God to meet your needs. Contact your nearby church to get connected with groups or opportunities to grow, and most especially to meet Jesus and be filled with His love in the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion. Groups and events are important, but please do not delay meeting Jesus in the Sacraments, since being filled with God and being renewed regularly in God's grace is the best protection and nourishment there is.
The angel Gabriel said to Mary, "For nothing will be impossible with God" (Luke 1:37).
Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly" (John 10:10).
