Pray For Our Priests

PictureIcon of Christ the True Vine, Athens, Greece, 16th century
The Charismatic Renewal Service Committee (CRSC) is committed to supporting the priests of the Arlington Diocese in their ministry of serving the people of God.

When St. John Paul II preached in Ars, France, in 1986 he asked: Where would we be without priests? To answer, the Holy Father quoted the patron saint of parish priests, St. Jean Vianney: “Without the priest, the death and passion of Our Lord would be of no use. It is the priest who continues the work of redemption on earth.”  Yes, Jesus has made the final sacrifice for sins, and the priest in a unique way by the power of the Holy Spirit brings the Cross into our midst through the miracle of every Mass.  Christ's work of redemption continues in each of our lives.  Our Communion with Jesus and each other is renewed, deepened, and strengthened.

Our priests sacrifice a lot for us and sometimes theirs is not an easy life. As a way of supporting our priests, the CRSC would ask that you pray for an outpouring of grace upon the priests of our Diocese.

Pray for an outpouring of graces, protection and gifts of the Holy Spirit to upon our Holy Father, Pope Francis, and the priests.

Pray for an outpouring of the protection, and release of gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit upon the Church, especially in reparation for clergy abuse, for Our Holy Father, Pope Leo XVI, Bishop Burbidge, and the following priests:

A Prayer For Priests
by St. Therese of Lisieux

O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep your priests within the shelter of your sacred heart, where none may touch them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch your sacred body.
Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with your precious blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of your priesthood.
Let your holy love surround them, and shield them from the world’s contagion.
Bless their labors with abundant fruit, and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here on earth, and in heaven, their everlasting crown.

Mary, Mother of Priests, pray for priests and vocations to the priesthood. Amen.
