Pray for Our Priests

The Charismatic Renewal Service Committee (CRSC) is committed to supporting the priests of the Arlington Diocese in their ministry of serving the people of God.

When Pope John Paul II preached in Ars, France, in 1986 he asked: Where would we be without priests? To answer, the Holy Father quoted the patron saint of parish priests, St. Jean Vianney: “Without the priest, the death and passion of Our Lord would be of no use. It is the priest who continues the work of redemption on earth.”  Yes, Jesus has made the final sacrifice for sins, and the priest in a unique way by the power of the Holy Spirit brings the Cross into our midst through the miracle of every Mass.  Christ's work of redemption continues in each of our lives.  Our Communion with Jesus and each other is renewed, deepened, and strengthened.

Our priests sacrifice a lot for us and sometimes theirs is not an easy life. As a way of supporting our priests, the CRSC would ask that you pray for an outpouring of grace upon the priests of our Diocese.

Each week, we will post the names of five priests from the Diocese. We ask that you keep them in prayer throughout the week. The following Sunday, we will post the names of a new set of priests for you to lift up in prayer.

The week of July 26 to August 1, 2010 please pray for the following priests:

Fr. Carroll Oubre, St. Agnes
Fr. Francis Peffley, Holy Trinity
Fr. Edwin Perez, St. Rita
Fr. John Peterson, Youth Apostles Institute
Fr. Mark Pilon, St. Raymond of Penafort

A Prayer For Priests

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.
Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.
Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.
Set their souls on fire with love for your people.
Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
Inspire them with the vision for you kingdom.
Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.
Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.
Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen.
