“Fr. Bramlage and Fr. Wilder have felt called by God to respond to John Paul II’s vision concerning the New Evangelization, especially among the poor. They have been touched by the Holy Spirit to share the Good News of God’s love through the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit. God continues to use them in this great ministry of the Church.”
Bishop Sam Jacobs of Houma-Thibodaux Diocese, Louisiana
Pope Benedict XVI calls the laity to have occasions of healing which are centered on the Word of God to heal our lives: “Sacred Scripture contains countless pages that speak of the healing which God brings” Verbum Domini [Word of the Lord] Dec. 2010

God inhabits in the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). Praise is a vehicle of faith which brings us into the presence and power of God! Praise and worship is the gate which allows us to enter the sacredness of His glory. The psalmist writes, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name” (Psalm 100:4).
St. Charles Borromeo talked about that "tiny spark" that exists within those who are faithful, and implores those who recognize that spark of faith to treasure and sustain it like a "stove tightly shut so that it will not lose its heat and grow cold." Isaiah 42:3 says, "A bruised reed he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not quench." Emily Dickinson wrote a poem that says, “You cannot put a FIRE out—a thing that can ignite can go, itself, without a fan—upon the slowest night.” May that tiny spark, which so often grows dim, ignite our souls so that it will never go out, even during the "slowest nights" that are yet to come.
Encounter
Friday, February 17
St. Thomas a' Becket Catholic Church
1421 Wiehle Avenue, Reston, VA
7pm-9pm
These are gatherings for Praise and Worship, teaching from the Bible, and ministering in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. These gatherings are an opportunity for the Body of Christ to use the charismatic gifts in the group, and then become ignited and emboldened to take these gifts out to the world which needs them.
We hope these “Encounter” nights will be occasions for all to be ministered to, filled and equipped in a way that only the Holy Spirit can do.
We surrender our expectations to His Divine Lordship. A priest is often here and he is available for Confession during the time of ministry.

Learning About the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Series
The Renewal reminds everyone that all can serve God and their neighbor. After attending a Leadership Course with the office from the Vatican that guides the Renewal globally, leaders from the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the diocese decided to share what they learned. At each gathering anyone who had interest came and learned learned about an aspect of the Renewal. The sessions also had time for praise and worship and fellowship. The topics were: the Renewal's history in November 2010, evangelization in January 2011, and prayer groups in April 2011.
"When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim." - Acts 2:1-4
Get to know the Holy Spirit.
Miracles: Healing for a Broken World by Fr. Stefan is about people from the area who have experienced healing. Proceeds go to the Paul Stefan Home for Expectant Mothers.

"God is always faithful to His promises, but He often surprises us in the way He fulfills them."
- Pope Benedict XVI, December 24, 2010, "Thought for the Day" on the BBC
